How It All Started

HR specialists often face the problem of excessive corporate communication: endless emails and news can lead to fatigue and loss of employee attention. Barilla sought a way to combine employee engagement, corporate changes, and employee well-being into one solution, especially for staff across different factories, offices, and remote teams. Collaboration with Ƶ allowed the company to transform internal communication into an interactive and engaging experience using sports challenges and gamification.

What's the Challenge

  • Bringing together all employees: factory workers, office staff, and remote teams

  • Increasing engagement: motivating employees to lead an active lifestyle, fostering team spirit, and strengthening connections among colleagues
  • Informing about business processes: helping employees gain a deeper understanding of Barilla's production facilities and their contribution to the company's overall success

The Solution

  • A virtual journey across 8,600 km connected Barilla's facilities in Italy, France, and Sweden
  • Weekly personal challenges kept participants engaged throughout the program
  • Six creative competitions enhanced the element of friendly rivalry
  • Ƶ's analytics dashboard allowed the HR department to track overall progress and see employee engagement in real-time

The Results

The "Factory Run" became for Barilla not just a fitness challenge, but a tool for strengthening corporate culture and increasing engagement
  • Record participation: 100% of employees with access took part in the challenge
  • High activity: each participant averaged 6-7 workouts per week
  • Popular activities: yoga, meditation, and cycling were the most sought-after
  • Creative engagement: six creative competitions and 45 personal challenges helped maintain motivation
  • High completion rate: 98% of participants completed at least one challenge
